Federal Judge strikes down Kentucky's ban on gay marriage

Although the Christian Taliban was able to pull a win yesterday at the Supreme Court with the Hobby Lobby case, they are still not able to win one lawsuit in defending bans against gay marriage, meaning that their homophobic bullshit holds no water when poked and prodded by an impartial jurist.

Case in point, Kentucky:
A federal judge in Kentucky struck down the state's ban on gay marriage on Tuesday, though the ruling was temporarily put on hold and it was not immediately clear when same-sex couples could be issued marriage licenses.
U.S. District Judge John G. Heyburn in Louisville concluded that the state's prohibition on same-sex couples being wed violates the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution by treating gay couples differently than straight couples. The ruling was the latest in a string of victories for gay marriage advocates across the nation, and marked the most recent conservative state to have its ban overturned.
And the Judge added this little node to slap some sense into these pathetic wanna-be teabagger Taliban martyrs of oppressive gay wedding cakes and sodomy-based white carnations:
"Sometimes, by upholding equal rights for a few, courts necessarily must require others to forebear some prior conduct or restrain some personal instinct... Here, that would not seem to be the case. Assuring equal protection for same-sex couples does not diminish the freedom of others to any degree."
Sorry teabaggers, you may think that you are able to prevent women workers from getting birth control pills, but you're overall prized jewel of banning happiness for gays is not going to cut it.

AFTERTHOUGHT: And lets hear from the right wingers who supported the Hobby Lobby ruling as a "landmark decision in support of freedom" and call this ruling nothing but "judicial activism oppressing God fearing Christians."

The fascists' MO is simple: Anything that benefits the common folk is considered "oppression" anything that benefits the petty bourgeoisie wealthy oligarchs and their pet projects or petty agendas of trying to micro-manage people's personal lives is considered "freeeeeeedooooom!"

Get that?
